Please see the following information from our Board regarding the Coronovirus:
The first case of a novel coronavirus has been confirmed in B.C., but the risk for students and schools remains low. All necessary precautions are being taken to prevent the spread of infection, and local health authorities are closely monitoring the situation.
The District will continue to monitor this situation and take direction from the Health Authority's school medical officer in responding to public health concerns. At this time, the risk to British Columbians, including school-aged students, is considered low.
Even with low-risk, students, staff, and families are being advised to follow the hygienic practices as they would in cold and flu season including proper hand-washing, staying home when sick and covering coughs and sneezes.
To ensure the emotional well-being of our students in this concerning situation, supports and counselling will be available to students as needed. Students may experience varied reactions to this type of situation, including trouble sleeping, concentrating or listening. Students may become more irritable, sad, angry, or worried as they think about what is happening around the globe or even in their home country.
